TRAIL RUNNING MEMOIR 3/22/2020
Fuel: banana & jerky
Noticing:
Found great single track today & big coyote prints.
Mountain Bluebirds are friendly & curious.
Three natural heart shapes.
It is very challenging to eat jerky on an uphill run, it’s hard to breath & chew at the same time!
Someone drank a Bud Light every half mile & threw out the empty can; I saw three.
Fishing spots were full & Montana’s dirt roads were very populated with the COVID-19 development.
Found a beautiful flat mountain to have a picnic on & teach yoga.
Evidence of mice watering. They tunnel under the ice & snow (see picture). They also tunnel under grass & dirt to avoid predators.
Contemplating: My odds of getting COVID-19 with three days nursing vs a tick born disease after three days of trails! Yes, it looks like spring on the trail. The grass is coming in.
I love trail running, have for over 22 years. I love the wind, dirt, snow, & sun. Today, the wind blew around & caressed my ankles. The sun felt great, warming my black running tights, then my muscles. I worked on embodiment. I am incorporating embodiment into my yoga classes tomorrow. Embodiment is a present moment awareness that is felt in the body. This practice has helped me through some very difficult times.
I am also incorporating self compassion, the practice of goodwill, not good feelings. With self compassion we mindfully accept that the moment is painful, & embrace ourselves with kindness, & care in response, remembering that imperfection is part of the shared human experience.
Special thanks to my hubby for riding with me & keeping me safe.
